We Have Always Lived in a Castle
Adapted by Hugh Wheeler for the stage, the original text is the psychological Gothic thriller of the same name by Shirley Jackson. I choose to set this theorectical design that never leaves one internally collapsing room of Second Empire mansion to increase the feeling of claustrophobia. I photographed my model box in each key moment, with the lighting that would suit the scene and then added characters using hand drawn sketches edited in photoshop.

The Dumbwaiter descends creaking into the space from above as a boy screams for help

Constance is racked with fear when boys start chanting outside

The girls gold a tea party with their dolls; Mrs Clarke and Mrs Wright

Cousin Charles burns through the closed door flooding the room with bright sunshine

A moment of gayness as the group have a picnic

Merricat cuts the rope of the dumbwaiter, killing Jonas

Uncle Julian remember the Blackwood's posioning as Mericat dances

The girls are left alone after Merricat murders Charles
